Field Measurement Campaign Across Mekong Living Lab Candidate Sites

October 11, 2024

Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu, Vietnam

ICOE researchers conducted a series of field surveys across five provinces in the Mekong Delta to evaluate potential Living Lab locations and collect baseline information on coastal conditions, hydrodynamics, and site characteristics for the development of an integrated coastal monitoring framework.

Researchers from the Institute of Coastal and Offshore Engineering (ICOE) carried out a field measurement campaign across five candidate Mekong Living Lab locations in Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu.

The surveys focused on assessing coastal conditions, hydrodynamic processes, and site-specific environmental characteristics to evaluate the suitability of each location for long-term monitoring and research. During the campaign, the team conducted field observations, site assessments, and preliminary data collection to better understand local coastal dynamics and environmental conditions.

The findings from these surveys provided valuable baseline information for designing an integrated monitoring framework and supported the selection and development of Living Lab sites across the Mekong Delta.

Highlights

  • Field surveys conducted across five Mekong Delta provinces.

  • Assessment of coastal conditions and hydrodynamic characteristics.

  • Evaluation of candidate sites for future Living Lab implementation.

  • Collection of baseline information for integrated monitoring.
