Netherlands Embassy Delegation Visits Mekong Living Lab Monitoring Sites

A delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands joined researchers from the Institute of Coastal and Offshore Engineering (ICOE) for a field visit to the primary monitoring sites of the Mekong Living Lab in Hoa Binh and Vinh Chau, Bac Lieu Province.

During the visit, the delegation inspected the installation and operation of wave and water-level monitoring equipment, which supports long-term coastal observation and environmental data collection. ICOE researchers introduced the monitoring network and explained its role in understanding coastal dynamics and supporting evidence-based coastal management.

The program also included presentations on the current status of mangrove forests, ongoing ecosystem restoration initiatives, and the challenges facing coastal communities in the Mekong Delta. Through site observations and technical discussions, participants exchanged knowledge on monitoring strategies, nature-based solutions, and future research directions to strengthen coastal resilience and sustainable management within the Mekong Living Lab.
