Soc Trang Field Measurements
June 2025
The Thuyloi University and ICOE team conducted field measurements in Soc Trang Province, focusing on key environmental parameters including water levels, waves, sediments, and mangrove biomass. The activities involved deploying and transporting wave buoys for nearshore wave measurements, installing wave gauges to monitor waves and water levels within mangrove areas, and collecting suspended sediment samples at estuary and canal mouths.

Field measurement
October 2024
The team conducted several field trips to potential living lab locations across five target provinces in the Mekong Delta, including Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu. These field activities focused on assessing coastal conditions, hydrodynamics, and local characteristics to support the development of an integrated monitoring framewor

Working with MDP Group
September 2024
A multidisciplinary student group from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology carried out academic and field-based activities at the Institute of Coastal and Offshore Engineering. The program included field measurements and interviews with local communities and authorities in Bac Lieu Province, focusing on social, economic, and hydraulic issues. The students gained meaningful academic insights and practical experience throughout their engagement at ICOE.

Interviews with the local farmer
September 2024
In addition to community interviews, the team discussed with local authorities in Bac Lieu Province issues related to mangrove forest recovery and protection. The discussions covered coastal erosion, the construction of breakwaters, forest management practices such as thinning and disease control, and cooperation with local households.
