In April, researchers from the MekongDeltaLivingLab project conducted a field survey in Vinh Chau, Soc Trang Province to collect hydrodynamic data and engage with the local community.

During the field campaign, the research team carried out site investigations, field measurements, and installed monitoring instruments to record water levels and current velocities. These observations will provide essential data for understanding coastal hydrodynamics and supporting research on mangrove ecosystem resilience.

In addition to the technical measurements, the team met with and interviewed local residents to gather information on environmental conditions, including water quality, pollution issues, and their perceived impacts on the surrounding mangrove forests. These discussions provided valuable local knowledge that complements the scientific observations and contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the environmental challenges facing the coastal ecosystem.

The collected field data and community insights will support ongoing research within the MekongDeltaLivingLab project, helping to improve scientific understanding of the interactions between hydrodynamic processes, environmental change, and mangrove restoration in the Mekong Delta.
